The Reason You're Listening band is composed of six critical pieces. Up front, you have a smokey, acoustic-rock lead singer/guitarist, matched with the vocals of a tongue-twisting MC. Stage left, you get the mellow vocals of the other singer/electric-guitarist. The backbone of the band’s music is held together by a hard-rocking metal bassist and a percussionist who, even during the most complex of solos, stays in the pocket. Piercing samples and scratching from the DJ is what gives the band their distinct sound. Their intense focus on clever, creative songwriting is what glues this complex puzzle of pieces together.

Get ready to get down with one of the hottest bands around. Villanova is a crossroads of rock riffs, hip-hop beats and soulful vocals that blend together into a purely unique sound – one that can safely be called their own. Villanova's lead singer and guitarist, Brian Conner, has embedded himself perfectly with bassist Bobby Dredd, drummer Jeremy Finesse Roberson, and DJ Able One to create a distinctive mix of danceable jams, hard-driving rock songs and soulful ballads. Though Villanova's songs are radio friendly, each song is meant to be rocked out live. And that is exactly what Villanova will do–rock!

AND AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE:

Columbia’s Five Points Association has teamed up with the Red Cross and Music Saves Lives to host a blood drive Friday, June 11th, at the Five Points Fountain from 11am to 4pm. The mission of the Association is to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation within the community. The drive will offer a number of great incentives to give blood, including a chance to win one of three fabulous cruises (courtesy of the Red Cross's "Save a Life & Sail the Seas" promotion). ALL donors will receive a VIP pass to the Vans Warped Tour, which has partnered with Music Saves Lives to help support blood donation. Donors will also receive free snacks and goody bags from generous Five Points restaurants, as well as special discounts and offers from Five Points retailers.
FIVE POINTS CARNIVAL OF SAVINGS:

Your favorite merchants in Five Points have been cooking up a great opportunity for shopping and fun this summer! On Saturday, July 17, Five Points will host an event designed to entertain guests and offer great discounts and specials. Stores along the block will have carnival-themed games inside their shops for patrons to win sale prices, gift certificates and more. Balloon artists, caricature drawings, snowcones and more will deliver tons of summer fun to the community!

Each year, when the weather gets cold and the trees start to turn, the folks in the Five Points community gear up for one of the spiciest events in town! The famed Group Therapy's Chili Cook Off. 2010 will be marking the 24th year of the event and it just gets better each year. Mark your calendars for one of Five Points' greatest events!
